以上四本收集的是关于20世纪建筑的基本文献。Conrads收集现代大师的文章，而Ockman/Eigen及Hays的文集是姐妹作。

6. K. Michael Hays, ed., Oppositions Reader收集了70年代的那个著名期刊里面的一些东东。
B. 基本参考工具
1. Jane Turner, ed. The dictionary of art. 1996. 这是建筑学和艺术史最重要的工具书。有网络版(内容不时更新)，学校跟出版社订购后，整个校园网都可以检索这个网路版了。关于建筑的内容：共5百万英文字。行文比较通俗，条目后面附有参考文献。
2. Avery Index of Architectural Periodicals. 哥伦比亚大学建筑图书馆编，以前是印刷出版，现在是网络版。学校跟出版社订购后，整个校园网都可以检索这个网路版了。全世界最重要的建筑期刊每期的内容，都可以用这个索引检索。还有一个好处：索引告诉我们每一篇论文里面的图片类型。如果要知道那个杂志有Kunsthal Rotterdam的剖面图，翻一下就找到了。
3. Architectural Periodicals Index. 英国国立建筑图书馆编，以前是印刷出版，现在是网络版。性质与Avery Index相似。免费检索，大家可以用google找到网址，很适合国情了吧，嘻嘻！
C. 介绍性的书(比较便宜)
1. Alan Colquhoun, Modern Architecture (Oxford History of Art) 普林斯顿大学教授的书，刚刚出版，显浅宜人。

#1-#3是帮助同学们学习版面设计的，同学们早点关注版面设计的问题，对日后做作品集申请出国有好处。#4提供高层住宅的平面图，平面图的尺度均一，方便比较，是很有参考价值的。同学们如能找到关于国内优秀住宅的书，可以进行比较。#5提供一个连接理念和建筑探索的例子，打破以平面为设计开端的做法，可与上面提到的Architectural composition比较，也可以跟Miralles的作品相比较。Miralles对地形的认识，跟Eisenman对建筑的独立性(autonomy)很不一样。#6-#7成一对，展示了建筑师对大地的认识跟景观界最近的看法有什么异同。#8-#10展示的是对“城市”的不同认识。
